As Workplaces Transform in Recession, so Too Should Consumers
Consumer Protection - News 2009
Consumers could borrow a leaf from how employers and staff are working together to protect businesses and jobs, which has led to a transformation of the UK workplace landscape.
Flexible working hours, extended shut-downs, extra holiday and reductions in paid overtime have become commonplace, according to new research by the Confederation of British Industry and recruitment experts Harvey Nash.
As such steps are adopted to save businesses, consumers could also cover their end by ensuring they have adequate measures in place to protect their financial future, such as income protection insurance.
This cover alongside others such as accident, illness and unemployment protection, life insurance and mortgage protection is especially recommended for people who have dependants, although experts urge every individual to consider them.
Protection specialist Bright Grey recently warned that millions of children in the UK could be left in financial ruin because over seven million parents in the UK did not have adequate financial protection.
Underlining the importance of putting in place a financial cushion, the organisation's proposition director Roger Edwards said insurance is one of the most important areas of your finances to get right", especially if any dependants are in the picture.
