Workplace deaths underscore need for life insurance

New figures have revealed the number of people killed at work in companies in the north-east of England, highlighting the importance of consumers protecting themselves with life insurance.

The provisional figures released by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have shown that there were nine fatal injuries reported in the region in 2008/09, up from seven in the previous year.

However, according to HSE's head of operations in the north-east Pam Waldron, simple and sensible precautions could have prevented the deaths.

"The fact that nine people failed to come home from work in the north-east last year because of avoidable safety failings is a terrible tragedy," he said.

"There are families throughout the region who have been cruelly robbed of a loved one in incidents that in many cases were entirely preventable," he sated, adding that safety should be put first.
